The Trashy Scarf

Hello, Reader-Friends! I want you to know as soon as I catch up on life I will write deeper, more meaningful posts. But until that happens here is a “thrifty” outfit. By the way, I apologize for my hair. I did not dry it, I did not brush it, in fact, I took a nap after working out and showering, rather than getting ready for my day. Yeah.

I also don't know why these pictures are so dang blurry...It's only on blogger that they show up this way. Anyone else have this happen?

Fancy & Fall

I know this doesn’t technically constitute an outfit post, Reader-Friends, but it most definitely is still a Thrifty Rich post, because I got these little beauts from no other than the Goodwill.

How much? MMmmmm, you know, about 99 cents! I have been wearing the heck out of them, too. They can make anything I wear fancy!

Easy Breezy {Bohemian} Girl

Hey, Reader Friends!

Remember about half a century ago, when I mentioned doing a series of posts titled “Thifty Rich”? No? Don’t worry, I didn’t expect you to! You can read what “Thrifty Rich” posts are all about here. I did just a couple of these posts this summer and then was defeated by the summer heat. It was way too ungodly hot and, even worse, humid to be taking outfit pictures! With Fall around the corner, however, I’m lacking excuse. So with out further complaining introduction:

I call this outfit “Easy Breezy Bohemian Girl,” because:

Number one, it is easy. I can find tops and accessories that go with the maxi skirt (my very first, by the way) fairly quickly.

Number two, it is breezy. I looooooove how this skirt feels twirling around my legs when I walk! Comfy, comfy! Get a maxi skirt, now. You can come back to this post later. GO!

And number three, it is rather boho in style, don’t you think?

Happy Hippie

Happy Fourth of July, Reader-Friends!

The home Internet is still out, so I'm sending out my little holiday greeting, once again, from the boyfriend's parent's house! I hope you all are in the American spirit today, celebrating God and country in a safe and fun way! Here at the Hildebrant home (that's the boys last name, by the way), we are are gearing up for some big boom action down at one of the city parks around these parts. I'm more of the sit back and enjoy the pretty stuff in the sky kind of gal, but I do have boyfriend who is a flipping pyromaniac enjoys the thrill of setting off the explosives. His daddy bought some toys for the "post-show" later tonight. *sigh* pray for me.

Well, guess what, my friends! I have another thrifty rich outfit to share with you! I'm calling this one "Happy Hippie" because it's a little more on the artsy side. I love the hippie look, and I have notice it's coming back in style lately...and when it goes out, I will probably still be wearing it. Why? This stuff is comfy, comfy!

I felt like this would be a good Fourth of July outfit, but I think I will be wearing this in the early fall. The skirt is somewhere between heavy and light. It will definitely keep your legs warm but the way it swishes and flows keeps it breezy. And hey, there is a plus- with the length no need to shave too high :)

I'm clearly no model, but I think my BFF did a pretty fantastic photog. job! Yes? If so, compliments will be delivered to Miss Jessica Nicole, who is looking into starting a blog of her own. Let's encourage her!

Hat and necklace were about ten bucks each at Claires. The flip-flops are Yellowbox; I bought them during the Fall, so they were on sale for like five or ten bucks.

Both the top and skirt make this a "thrifty rich" outfit. They are both from the Goodwill, Hernando. Top was maybe four bucks and skirt was five or six. (I'm going to get better at getting you more accurate prices.)

This is the purse, Jon bought me while we were in Gattlinburg with his parents earlier this summer.

I'm looking a little Pilgrim-ish in this one, huh?

This is probably my favorite shirt right now. It goes with EVERYTHING and I love the way it fits. The material doesn't squeeze...Muffins are not on the menu! :)

Blueberry of Sorts

Hey, hey, Reader-Friends!

Ready for the first (very armature) installment to my "Thrifty Rich" series? Don't have a clue what I'm talking about? Jump over to this post.

So, I'm not wonderful at modeling...Jon isn't a professional photographer either, but we hope that the quality of the photos are not too disappointing. Besides it's about the outfits anyway.

Disclaimer: Sometimes I am the only one in the world that thinks what I put together is cute (and my mama, of course!), so if you are a fashion guru, this may not be the place for you. I probably break ten rules at once with some things I put on, but you all know my philosophy. I look in the mirror and ask myself: do I like this? Yes, okay *grabs keys and walks out the door*

I am calling this outfit "Blueberry of Sorts" because I have mixed and matched a few different shades of blue.

This is at a park called Bear Pen in Cleveland where I go to college.

I will remember to sit up straight next time...I think I was just freaking out a little nervous about trying to balance. You would too if you had seen some of the creatures living in that water!

This guy has completely stolen my heart! Best. Dog. Ever. His name is Meeko (like the raccoon off of Disney's Pocahontas). He showed up at Jon's parents and just wouldn't leave. No one claimed him and now he is Jon's best friend.

An Itch to Thrift

Hey Reader-Friends!

I had a GREAT little bonding time with my big sis yesterday. We went to one of my favorite places...drum roll please...the thrift store! I'm getting a little addicted, honestly. I mean who wouldn't when you can put adorable outfits together for next nothing. I'm not that high maintenance, ladies. If there isn't holes in someone else's New York & Company blazer (which looks like it MIGHT have been worn just once) then I'm giving the cute cloth a loving home! Now, I am light years away from being rich, (hello! trying to pay for college here!) but I like to say that the money I save shopping at the Goodwill and the Salvation Army makes me "thrifty rich"!

I had planned on doing some studying last night, (see a trend? -for crying out loud it's the summer! Can't I just play?) anyway, I got distracted and started playing dress up with my thrift store purchases (two pairs of jeans and four tops for a mere 25 bucks) and a few new things I got this weekend when my mom and I went out and about.

I think I see a new series for the blog in the future. I am going to work on putting some outfits together and sweet talking Jon into being my photographer, so I can share my steals with all my bloggy-buddies! I'm insanely far from being any kind of thrift store shopping pro, but as I learn I will be sure to share some tips too. Sound good, gals? Okay, so watch for these "Thrifty Rich" posts soon!

Speaking of the thrift store...This girl was there:

Well, not actually "this" girl. But you know her. The one that dragged brought her boyfriend along on the shopping trip. He pushed the cart, he held the unwanted hangers of clothes, he gave his not exactly what she wanted to hear opinion on every single outfit she came out of the dressing room in. Ladies, I'm not hating on you if you do this to your man, (maybe he willingly comes along-mine is just unruly, I guess) but the one thing that made my skin hot, as I had no choice but to listen to their exchange of words as I was in the next dressing stall over was her desperate desire of his approval of what she was wearing.

Look, I haven't been very successful thus far in the confidence department, but there is one kind of thinking I am starting to get a hold of, and that is just doing something, being something, liking something just because it's who you are! I'm not going to get all preachy with the just be yourself campaign, but I have been 150% happier and more confident walking out of the house in something I decided was right for me, that reflected my personality. Ahem****That's what your men should love about what you're wearing, whether it's his favorite color or not****

Another key in life and finding yourself is accepting that everyone is different. If someone turns up their nose at your clothes, a haircut, or piercing, don't take it personal; they just somehow got it in their head that the world revolves around them and therefore cater to their tastes.

Whenever my sweet bestie and roommate comes into my room in the mornings to ask my opinion on her outfit, she should by now well-know my response: "Well, do you like it?"

So, my question for you today is the same: Do you like what you're wearing or is it someone else's taste?
