What Happen[ed] in Vegas...

Hello-Reader Friends!

I'm back from Vegas! and very tired. Nothing like a good ole red eye flight to, well, give you red eyes! I had such a great time out west. There were mountains all around, and it was like Christmas every night. It was such a blessing to work with those people that have discipled me over the years. It's weird being an "adult" on these trips now, but it is so rewarding to look back on years of mission trips with these people and to see how much we have all grown. We have grown more mature in our faith and we have grown closer together in heart.

So besides seeing all the AMAZING sights, the team went out into neighborhoods of Spring Valley in search of families or individuals interested in getting involved in Redemption Baptist Church. If you haven't heard, I have some very good friends that have been obedient to God's call to start home Bible studies in the city that never sleeps. One of those friends, Neal Creecy made a good point this week; he said that all the sin that is going down in Vegas is happening at home and all over as well, the only difference is that it is shamelessly put on display there. Something that really struck me this week, as we were working with both the homeless and the wealthy, was that all those people are in the exact same place eternally. As door after door closed in our faces I became very sad but what hurt me the most was those that did open the doors to our invitation they said, "no thanks, I'm fine." No you're not. That's what I wanted to say, instead of smiling at them and walking away. Whether they were living in a mansion with a pool or a cardboard box under a bridge, their eternal home was the same. God was faithful in answer our prayers, however, because there were just a few home that seemed house hearts of peace. Those that were receptive to our mission made all the no's and closed doors worth it. I am so proud of my friends for their obedience. It's a beautiful but dark place out there in Nevada. I can't wait to see what God does with those friends and the souls of Las Vegas.
